Its a familiar term and popular with seasonal workers venturing westward for the first time – that is to say, Ontarians who spend a prolonged time in Western Canada (whether its summer, winter or all year). And admittedly I’ve thrown that term around on more than one occasion. I do thoroughly enjoy being proven wrong on that term when it comes to Ontario’s provincial parks and more remote backcountry destinations.
Like so many others this year, I took to exploring the outdoors a bit closer to home, revisiting some old favourites and exploring new favourites. No, nothing here will ever compare to the magic of the Canadian Rockies and there is nothing that will change my opinion of that. Having said that – there are certainly still some hidden gems tucked around in various corners of this massive province and many more that I have yet to explore.
There are a few highlights I plan on writing up, as this blog does cater to “scrambling, mountaineering, [and] trekking”. Namely, I am currently working on a write-up from my recent trip to Ishpatina Ridge’s Tower Summit which should be up later this evening. In the future you may expect to see reports on the Ganaraska Trail – Wildlands Section, Algonquin’s Uplands Trail, and Killarney’s La Cloche Loop.
