Easy-Moderate Scramble
A throwback from the archives, I’ve discovered I actually have some half decent photos and notes from this adventure. I teamed up with Jules and Blake for this outing, we followed the description from Kane’s (2016) Scrambles and opted to bushwhack off-of the Paradise Valley Trail for the ascent slope. It was both a long approach and long slog to ascend up the southern slope. The slope tapers into a steep gully with lots of loose rubble, which later opens up to a talus slope and eventual summit ridge. Though Kane rated this an easy scramble I’d argue it fits a Moderate rating and is comparable to the gully on The Monarch. If anything else, its a long day going up this scrambling route. A long grind up, the final fifteen minutes up the summit ridge are the most interesting in terms of hands on scrambling to the summit cairn. The views up here almost make it worth the effort…
